Want to custom quality sportswear? These fabrics you must understand!

Kyra Kyra |

In the process of customizing high-quality sportswear, the choice of fabric is crucial. Different fabrics have different functional characteristics, which not only affect the comfort of sportswear, but also directly determine its performance and service life. As a brand or buyer, understanding the characteristics of various common fabrics can help you make more informed choices. The following fabrics are widely used in sportswear, and understanding their advantages and disadvantages will provide strong support for customization.

1. Polyester
Polyester is one of the most common fabrics used in sportswear. Its advantage is its excellent moisture wicking performance, which can effectively drain sweat from the surface of the skin to the outer layer of clothing, helping to keep the body dry. Polyester fiber also has strong durability, not easy to wrinkle, tensile resistance and other characteristics, suitable for high-intensity exercise. However, polyester fibers are slightly less breathable and may feel stuffy if worn for a long time.
2. Nylon
Nylon is a very tough synthetic fiber with good wear and tear resistance, so it is often used in sportswear that requires high durability, such as outdoor clothing or protective equipment. Nylon is slightly less hygroscopic than polyester, but its softness and gloss are higher, and it is more comfortable to wear. Nylon is ideal for sports that require durability and comfort.

3. Spandex/Lycra
Spandex, commonly branded Lycra, is the fabric of choice for stretchy sportswear. It can provide excellent stretching, ensuring that athletes can stretch freely during exercise, suitable for yoga, fitness, running and other sports. Spandex is often blended with other fibers to enhance the elasticity and firmness of clothing and increase wearing comfort. However, pure spandex fabrics are not resistant to wear and tear and usually need to be used with other fabrics.
4. Cotton
Cotton fiber is a natural fiber that is comfortable to wear, breathable, and suitable for low impact exercise or everyday wear. Although cotton fiber has good hygroscopic properties, it easily absorbs sweat, making clothing wet and heavy, which is not suitable for high intensity exercise or a lot of sweating. Therefore, cotton fibers are often blended with polyester fibers to enhance their properties.

5. Mesh Fabric
Because of its unique structural design and excellent breathability, mesh fabric is widely used in the design of sportswear, especially in projects requiring rapid sweat and heat dissipation, such as running, cycling and so on. The mesh fabric effectively promotes air circulation, ensuring that athletes stay cool and comfortable. Although the softness of the mesh fabric is slightly weaker, its breathability and lightness are ideal for high intensity sports.
